بيان استنكار صادر عن الاتحاد الدولي لإعلام الأقليات
تلقى الاتحاد الدولي لإعلام الأقليات ببالغ الصدمة والاستنكار، نبأ الهجوم الإرهابي الجبان الذي استهدف احتفالات عيد رأس السنة البابلية الآشورية "أكيتو" في مدينة دهوك بإقليم كردستان العراق. إن هذا الاعتداء الإجرامي لا يمثّل فقط انتهاكاً لحقوق الإنسان، بل هو مساس خطير بجوهر التعددية الثقافية، وضربة موجعة لمكون أصيل وعريق ساهم في بناء حضارة وادي الرافدين.
إن المكوّن السرياني الكلداني الآشوري ليس مجرد أقلية دينية أو قومية، بل هو امتداد حي لحضارات بابل وآشور وسومر، وجذر راسخ في هوية العراق التاريخية والثقافية. وإن استهداف أبنائه خلال احتفالهم بعيد أكيتو – الذي يُجسّد أحد أعرق التقاليد الحضارية في المنطقة – يُعدّ جريمة مزدوجة: جريمة بحق الناس، وجريمة بحق الذاكرة التاريخية والهوية الوطنية العراقية.
لقد عانى هذا المكون الاصيل لعقود من التهميش والاستهداف، وها هو اليوم يُواجه محاولات قمع صوته حتى في مناسباته القومية والدينية التي تُعبّر عن تاريخه ووجوده. إن استمرار مثل هذه الانتهاكات يهدد بإفراغ العراق من أحد أبرز أعمدته الثقافية والإنسانية.
وعليه، فإن الاتحاد الدولي لإعلام الأقليات:
1. يطالب بفتح تحقيق عاجل وشامل من قبل الجهات المختصة، محلية ودولية، لكشف ملابسات هذا الهجوم ومن يقف وراءه، وتقديم الجناة للعدالة دون تأخير.
2. يدعو إلى وضع خطة حماية شاملة للمجتمعات الأصلية، وخاصة المكوّن السرياني الكلداني الآشوري، بما يكفل له ممارسة شعائره ومناسباته بحرية وأمان.
3. يناشد المجتمع الدولي، والمنظمات الحقوقية والإعلام العالمي، بالتحرك الجاد لإدانة هذه الجريمة، والوقوف إلى جانب هذا المكون المُستهدف، وتقديم الدعم الكامل له.
إن الاتحاد الدولي لإعلام الأقليات يؤكد تضامنه الكامل والثابت مع الشعب الآشوري، ومع جميع مكوّنات العراق الأصيلة، ويشدّد على أن احترام التعددية هو الضامن الحقيقي لوحدة الشعوب. فالتنوع ليس تهديداً، بل هو غنىً وإنسانية، وحمايته مسؤولية جماعية.

Statement of Condemnation Issued by the International Union for Minority Media
The International Union for Minority Media received with deep shock and condemnation the news of the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted the celebrations of the Assyrian Babylonian New Year “Akitu” in the city of Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This criminal assault is not only a blatant violation of human rights, but also a serious attack on the very essence of cultural pluralism and a painful blow to an ancient and original component that has contributed to the building of the Mesopotamian civilization.
The Syriac Chaldean Assyrian component is not merely a religious or ethnic minority, but rather a living extension of the civilizations of Babylon, Assyria, and Sumer — a deep-rooted element in Iraq’s historical and cultural identity. Targeting its people during the Akitu celebration – which embodies one of the most ancient cultural traditions in the region – constitutes a double crime: a crime against people, and a crime against historical memory and the national identity of Iraq.
This authentic component has suffered for decades from marginalization and targeting, and today it faces attempts to silence its voice even during its national and religious occasions that express its history and existence. The continuation of such violations threatens to empty Iraq of one of its most important cultural and human foundations.
Accordingly, the International Union for Minority Media:
1. Calls for an urgent and comprehensive investigation by the relevant authorities, both local and international, to uncover the circumstances of this attack, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice without delay.
2. Urges the development of a comprehensive protection plan for indigenous communities, especially the Syriac Chaldean Assyrian component, ensuring their right to practice their rituals and celebrate their occasions freely and safely.
3. Appeals to the international community, human rights organizations, and global media to take serious action in condemning this crime, standing in solidarity with this targeted component, and providing it with full support.
The International Union for Minority Media affirms its full and unwavering solidarity with the Assyrian people and with all of Iraq’s original components, emphasizing that respect for pluralism is the true guarantor of unity among peoples. Diversity is not a threat, but a source of richness and humanity — and its protection is a shared responsibility.
